About Orange Door & Brophy & Family Youth Services

The Orange Door works with women, men, children and young people experiencing family violence and families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children.

The Orange Door is an intake point for family violence and child wellbeing issues.  The safety of victim survivors is its first priority.  The Orange Door will also help to maintain a focus on perpetrators so the risk they pose can be assessed and they are held accountable for their behaviour.

Brophy Family & Youth Services is a quality Child Safe accredited, not for profit organisation with a team of staff working collaboratively with other external agencies at the Orange Door hub.

What's behind the Orange Door?

Our team is growing and we are now on the lookout for a full-time Team Leader to lead a team of staff at the Orange Door, based in Warrnambool, Vic. This is an opportunity to directly impact the lives of vulnerable children and those impacted by family and domestic violence.

You will receive an above-award salary of $97,121 - $101,416 plus super and options to salary package. You will also have access to a wide range of benefits, including:

As Team Leader you will coordinate, supervise, oversee and support the day-to-day operations of our integrated team of skilled practitioners within the South West Orange Door. Within the integrated model, the Team Leader will also work collaboratively, maintaining positive relationships with partnering organisations and developing new relationships with key agencies.

Your core duties will include;

  • Being an integral part of the local the Orange Door leadership, to build the practice with the shared responsibility to support a positive culture of the multi-agency staff team;
  • Providing specialist and advanced practice leadership and support, and building capacity of the Orange Door practitioners;
  • Providing case consultation, sound judgement, and authoritative advice on complex cases;
  • Establishing systems and procedures to improve service delivery to infants, children and young persons;
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with the Orange Door and other key local and statewide stakeholders; and
  • Providing regular Supervision to staff; including overseeing probation.

What you'll bring to the team

To thrive in this role, you will have demonstrated clinical experience and a relevant qualification in social work, psychology or a related discipline. You will also possess a Bachelor of Social Work or a Diploma in Community Welfare Work, with the willingness to upgrade your qualifications to a Bachelor of Social Work over the next five years.

The role will see you directing both team members who work for Brophy Youth Services, as well as team members who work for partner agencies. This adds an extra dimension to the position and will require someone who is highly efficient, able to "think outside the box" when required, and who possesses strong relationship-building skills. 

Given you'll be distributing a high volume of work amongst a number of team members, you'll need strong administrative and time management skills as well as the ability to use a CRM effectively.

Suitable candidates must hold an Employee Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, complete a National Police Check and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, prior to commencing employment.
