Brophy Family and Youth Services is a quality Child Safe accredited, not-for-profit organisation, providing a wide range of family, youth and children services across South-west Victoria. 

Working with children, young people and families across the region, Brophy provides support and services to those in crisis in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. An opportunity has recently become available for an Executive Manager to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable people in the community by managing the three Out of Home Care divisions in the organisation and the teams that deliver these crucial services.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Brophy Family and Youth Services is now seeking an experienced leader to join the team as the Executive Manager - Out of Home Care (OOHC). This is a rewarding role that will see you take ownership of the Kinship Care, Foster Care and Residential Care teams.

These are crucial divisions in the work that Brophy does. Working within the relevant frameworks, you'll ensure the best outcomes for children and young people that engage the services of Brophy.

With a broad range of responsibilities covering governance/clinical governance, strategy, program management, operations and quality assurance, you will improve the lives of vulnerable people in the community by:

  • Ensuring staff members are empowered to develop trusting and supportive relationships with children and young people in need;
  • Planning and executing strategic development of the three OOHC divisions;
  • Ensuring all operations meet appropriate OOHC Service Standards; and
  • Ongoing improvement of processes as needed to maintain standards of care

What You'll Bring to the Team

You will be a systems-minded, empathetic individual, ideally with a minimum of five years of experience in coordinating the delivery of services in a community services organisation or related industry. You will use your thorough understanding of the child protection system and experience with complex program management to make a difference in the lives of children and young people in crisis, exercising emotional intelligence as necessary to mitigate conflict. You'll be approachable, compassionate and respectful of all individuals and their circumstances. 

A tertiary qualification in social work or community development will be required, however candidates with a bachelor’s degree in business or management where combined with relevant experience in adjacent sectors are encouraged to apply. 

Other requirements include:

  • Knowledge of OOHC services within the child protection system 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex funding packages
  • A proven ability to make timely decisions with regard to children, young people and families, particularly under pressure or in a crisis situation
